Thank you to everyone in our school system who helped support our recent Jay's Hope Hats4Hope day. Together we raised funds to assist local families battling childhood cancer while also raising awareness about the fight. The mission of Jay’s Hope is “to improve the quality-of-life of children with cancer and their families in Georgia by extending HOPE through social, emotional, spiritual, educational and financial support.” HES, KBS, TGS, and MCMS are honored to have participated in this campaign and today presented a check to Jay’s Hope for nearly $1200. Thanks for giving HOPE!

Have fun wearing Peace Signs or Tie-Dye!

Thanks to Glenda Davis and WoodmenLife, a Buddy Bench was installed on the upper grades playground at TG Scott Elementary School today. This special bench is designed to promote friendship and inclusion among students. When students feel lonely or want someone to play with, they can sit on the Buddy Bench, signaling to their classmates that they would like a buddy to join them.
To further encourage kindness and inclusion, all 3rd through 5th grade teachers will read "The Buddy Bench" by Patty Brozo (also donated by WoodmenLife) with their classes. This book helps students understand the importance of looking out for others and being a good friend during recess.
We are so grateful to WoodmenLife for recognizing needs in schools and working to fulfill those needs. This bench helps students at TGS to fulfill our mission of being respectful, and we look forward to the benefits they will experience through this gift.

Big shout out to another generous Science Night sponsor - thank you, SportClips! We so appreciate the partnership and willingness to support this fun family event - we can't pull off a successful event like this without assistance. If you'd like to help, please let us know!

Attention, adventurers! Our Book Blast event starts next week, and we will set off in search of treasure to build our students' home libraries. Follow the steps on the Treasure Map coming home to embark on a jungle quest to earn exciting prizes and books.

TGS 5th graders once again read "Schooled" by Gordon Korman to learn about character traits, points of view, and sequencing. The main character, Cap, was a hippie who had to adjust to normal life in middle school. Many real life connections were made through reading this book, and the students celebrated & illustrated by tie dyeing t-shirts! It's become a favorite annual tradition! #schooled #gordonkorman #5thgrade
